Laura Linney could not live "like Lindsay Lohan".

The 43-year-old "Love Actually" actress is relieved she found fame late as she could not have "handled" being as famous as the troubled "Mean Girls" star.

Linney said, "I could not have dealt with being famous at a young age like Lindsay Lohan. It would have been too distracting and I never had a desire for that sort of thing. I could not have done it."

"I didn't even know what I was doing until I was 24, 25. I was at drama school until I was 26."

"If I had entered Hollywood at a young age I would not have been able to handle it and would not have had a life in film."

Lohan, 21, has suffered high-profile problems with drink and drugs.

Last month, she served just 84 minutes of a 24-hour sentence at Los Angeles County's Lynnwood Jail after being convicted for DUI.

Lohan checked out of Utah's Cirque Lodge rehab clinic in October following a two-month stay.
