The late Anna Nicole Smith's former lover Larry Birkhead has secured a U.S. passport for their daughter.
The 34-year-old photographer plans to leave the Bahamas for his hometown of Louisville, Kentucky, with seven-month-old Dannielynn in the next few days.
Birkhead - the child's proven biological father - obtained the temporary passport for his daughter on Monday, after a Nassau court granted his freedom to travel to the U.S. with her last week.
He gushed: "I'm just getting ready to be a dad. Officially, on my own soil."
Birkhead obtained a revised version of Dannielynn's birth certificate listing him, and not Anna Nicole's lover and lawyer Howard K. Stern, as the father, last Friday.
The Nassau registry office also changed Dannielynn's surname to Birkhead.
Dannielynn has remained in the Bahamas under the care of Stern since Anna Nicole died of an accidental drug overdose in Florida on February 8.
Birkhead is still locked in a custody battle with Anna Nicole's mother Virgie Arthur. Arthur tried to block Birkhead leaving the Bahamas with her granddaughter, but her appeal was overruled.
Birkhead has been ordered to return to the Nassau court for another formal custody hearing on June 8.
