Kirsten Dunst went to rehab for depression.

The 'Spider-Man' star checked into Utah's Cirque Lodge treatment facility - which previously helped Lindsay Lohan and Eva Mendes - in February amid rumors she was being treated for alcoholism and drug use, claims she has now refuted.

She said: "I didn't go to Cirque Lodge for alcohol abuse or drug abuse, I went there for depression. I was struggling, and I had the opportunity to go somewhere and take care of myself. I was fortunate to have the resources to do it. My friends and family thought it was a good idea, too."

The 26-year-old actress also spoke candidly about her depression, insisting the condition is misunderstood. She added to 'E! News': "There's been a lot of misrepresentation about what is going on in my life. Depression is pretty serious and should not be gossiped about."

Kirsten has denied claims she is dating Ryan Gosling, her co-star in 'All Good Things.'
