Kim Mathers has opened up about her relationship with hip-hop star Eminem.
Mathers, who has married the "Lose Yourself" singer twice, revealed to "20/20" that her former husband has made her attempt suicide in the past.
The mother of Eminem's beloved daughter Hailie, said that the relationship broke down the first time after he performed the song "Kim" during a concert she was at.
The tune is about Eminem's fantasies of choking Mathers.
She said, "This is supposed to be a man that loves me, and is supposed to protect me, from being hurt, and here he is disrespecting me in the worst way possible in front of millions of people, and in front of our kids, my family, my friends. He decided to do that song, and not only perform the song, but use blow-up dolls to reenact me being choked."
Mathers revealed that it was the performance that made her attempt to take her own life. She said, "I made it home...I went upstairs in my bathroom and I slit my wrists and ended up in the hospital."
After a lengthy stay in rehab to treat her demons, Mathers says she returned home and slowly rekindled her romance with her high school sweetheart.
She said, "I came home from being incarcerated in rehab and he asked me to stay a few nights at the house, so I could be with the kids. A few nights turned into a few weeks, to a year. I was home a year and a half, almost two years before we got married."
However, after remarrying in January 2006, Eminem filed for divorce by April. According to Mathers, the short lived reunion follows a pattern in their relationship.
She said, "In our relationship there's a pattern. We'll have two good years and then it will go bad for some reason. It's like a two year max with us... and I just didn't want to rush into anything before the two years."
Matthers was appearing on a segment titled "Revenge."
