Britney Spears' manager has quit. Jeff Kwatinetz, chief executive officer of management company The Firm, announced he would no longer be representing the troubled singer on Monday, citing "current circumstances" for his decision.

A statement released by The Firm said: "It saddens us to confirm media reports that we have terminated our professional relationship with Britney Spears."

Britney Spears has hired Kelly Clarkson's former manager, Jeff Kwatinetz.

Britney sacked her manager, Larry Rudolph, in April - just six months after rehiring him - while the 'American Idol' winner fired Kwatinetz in June. Britney is hoping Kwatinetz, who is CEO of The Firm - one of Hollywood's most powerful talent agencies - can help her rebuild her image and launch her comeback.

Kelly Clarkson has been vocal about the problems surrounding her latest album, "My December."
