Kelly Clarkson is turning out to be a more outspoken "American Idol."
The singer has admitted that she struggled to get her latest album made, because of record company executives trying to choose her music for her. However, the strong-minded pop star insisted on making an album her way or no way.
She told "Access Hollywood," "I think the only thing that's been really a struggle with this record is really just getting it out. So, yeah, we've had the record done for a while, and some people don't like it and some people love it, so it's hard to get people on your side...They want 'happy Kelly' and I'm a very happy person, but it's more so like I'm not - I'm a real person. It's reality. I'm gonna show people the good times and bad times. The whole CD isn't negative, it's just it is more of a story and some of the story is kind of intense."
The star revealed that her record label even tried to get her to sing recycled songs. Kelly, whose last album spawned the hit singles "Since You've Been Gone" and "Because Of You," was given a song already sung... by Lindsay Lohan.
She continued, "Obviously they're a record label so they need to sell records. They want the formula writers and the formula producers that do everybody else's stuff, and while I love some of those people... and I don't mind working with that... I just don't like working with someone that gives you a song and is like, 'Oh, I wrote this for you.' But you find out that they've given it to every other artist and they turned it down, you know? My label literally sent me a Lindsay Lohan track from her last album and wanted me to record it for my new album. And while I like Lindsay Lohan, like I'm cool with her and I think she sings the song well... it's already been on an album. I don't care what pop star it is."
Singing isn't the only issue Kelly is having at the moment. The original "American Idol" winner has been struggling with her weight gain.
An insider said, "She feels pressure from her label, her handlers, and her friends to lose weight. She's always moaning about how she can't find a boyfriend and she blames this dry spell on her weight. The way Kelly looks and feels now, Kelly isn't going to let a man love her, [which is what she may need] to get off this negative merry-go-round."
Star magazine reports that Kelly is desperate to lose 25 pounds.
