Kelly Clarkson has been a healthy role model for young girls since she became America's idol. However, the singer has been hiding a secret - she once suffered from bulimia.
The curvy star, who has been vocal about her objection to Hollywood's size zero obsession, told CosmoGirl magazine that she suffered from the eating disorder during her teens.
Kelly, who is currently disputing with her record label, said that she began throwing up her meals after losing out on a role in a high school play.
She said, "I thought if I come back and I'm cuter and thinner...then I'll get the role. I became bulimic for the next six months. One of my guy friends caught on to it, and I just felt so ashamed and embarrassed."
The "Never Again" singer said it was the power of her own mind that got her out of the deadly habit. Using an interesting choice of words, she said, "I literally went cold turkey and snapped out of it."
