Keith Richards has labeled Rolling Stones bandmate Sir Mick Jagger a "power freak."

The legendary guitarist claims Jagger always has to be in control of the group, but insists he and the rest of the band have learned to cope with his megalomaniac tendencies.

He said: "Mick's a maniac. He can't get up in the morning without knowing immediately who he is going to call. He's a power freak and there's nothing we can do about it. I don't want to do anything about it. Let him mess about with it. It doesn't make a difference to what we do."

Richards has also accused Jagger of being "vain".

The 64-year-old axeman claims the flamboyant frontman, also 64, is obsessed with his image.

He added to Uncut magazine: "Excuse me when I laugh. He's a bit vain let's put it like that. But we want a vain bloke up there, don't we? Meanwhile the band can go to work. Vanity will not carry a band, but a band can carry vanity."
