Kate Middleton, girlfriend of Britain's Prince William, has declined an offer from Queen Elizabeth to host a table at this week's Royal Ascot.

Kate - who has been dating the future king for five years - was personally invited by the queen to have a table at the world-famous horseracing event in the hospitality tent in the Royal Enclosure on Thursday.

It was a double date night for Prince William and Prince Harry, when they took their girlfriends to the Boodles Boxing Ball on Saturday. The event was an evening of entertainment benefiting the Starlight charity, which grants wishes for terminally and seriously ill children.

Close to 800 guests attended the event, including Prince William and his girlfriend Kate Middleton and Prince Harry and his girlfriend Chelsy Davy.
