Sometimes girls don't stick around forever for their prince charming and it seems like Kate Middleton is getting tired of waiting around.
The girlfriend of Prince William has reportedly given him an ultimatum - propose in a year or it's over.
The 24-year-old, who turns 25 on Tuesday, is said to be tired of keeping her career on hold just in case her 24-year-old royal boyfriend pops the question.
A royal insider told Britain's The People newspaper, "She is an attractive, intelligent graduate who would be forging ahead in a professional career if she wasn't William's girlfriend. But she is treading water. She would say yes to William tomorrow. But the longer he dithers, the less fair it is on her. If he has doubts she wants him to be honest with her so she can get on with her life."
The couple - who have been dating for four years - met as students at St. Andrews University and Kate has been criticized for taking over a year to find full-time employment after graduating in 2005.
She now works four days a week as an assistant accessories buyer for highstreet clothing chain Jigsaw.
Speculation that the pair are soon to announce their plans to wed intensified last week after Kate received a police escort to work - something she is not officially entitled to unless she becomes engaged to the prince. However, the prince - who joined his brother Prince Harry's Blues and Royals Army regiment on Monday - has previously said that he does not want to marry until he is 28.
