Kate Hudson says filming movies is her holiday from being a mother. The "Almost Famous" actress says that it's hard to be separated from her 4-year-old son Ryder while she's shooting a movie but she realized that she needed the time away from him.
She confesses, "That was really hard as it was the first time I'd ever been away from Ryder," referring to filming her latest movie in Australia "Fool's Gold."
"But it ended up being one of those things where I realized that you really do need time away from your children to remember you're a person, too!"
She continues, "You know how it is - you try to sleep in, but even while you're asleep, you've always got one eye open and one ear open, too."
"So I end up exhausted. When it's only me, I can just go to work and come home."
Hudson, 28, is divorced from Ryder's dad, Chris Robinson, the frontman for The Black Crowes. She is currently starring alongside Matthew McConaughey in the romantic comedy "Fool's Gold."
