In an attempt to help satisfy a judgment in the wrongful death of Ronald Goldman, a judge on Wednesday for former football star O.J. Simpson to handover any money he has in his client trust account with a Florida lawyer to the family of the victim.

The ruling comes nearly a decade after an appeals court found Simpson liable in the wrongful death civil case brought up by the families of his ex-wife and her acquaintance Ronald Goldman and ordered him to pay a total of $33.5 million in compensation.

According to Goldman's attorney, David Cook, Simpson's attorney Leonardo D. Starke is believed to be holding about $3,500. Although the amount is only a fraction of the sum, the families of Nicole Brown and Ronald Goldman are expected to receive the amount. Cook said it was a significant decision.

"It's significant that we're reaching money over state lines, and it's a significant message to Mr. Simpson that we will find every asset there is," he told the Associated Press.

Last year, a Superior Court judge rejected an appeal by Goldman's family to grant them the rights to Simpson's name, image and likeness to cover the damage award.

Simpson was acquitted in the killings of Brown and Goldman in 1995 and has maintained his innocence over the years.
