Star actor Josh Lucas nearly drowned during the shooting of his latest film "Poseidon." Lucas was determined to give in all he could to make the scenes close to reality but his determination narrowly escaped a disastrous end.
Lucas said, "I got caught on a wire underwater. The safety people and camera people couldn't see me, and there was like two inches of breathing room. I got trapped and disoriented, I was starting to lose my breath and there was nowhere to go."
After the scary experience, Lucas, 34, was persuaded by his director Wolfgang Peterson to repeat the scene again. "When I got out of the water, I screamed at Wolfgang, 'We can only do one take, that's all you can have, one take!' But he said, 'Yes, I understand, so, we'll do it again?' I just said, 'OK - let's go!'" The USA Today quoted Lucas.
The "Poseidon" star almost quit acting in the mid-1990s when he didn't get his favorite roles. His mother also discouraged him in the art, when she asked him to quit acting when things didn't move well for Lucas. Each time he missed a role, the actor felt his world had come to an end.
