Angelina Jolie is continuing her efforts to make the world a better place.
The stunning, Oscar winning actress is currently in Africa, her first trip back to the continent since giving birth to her daughter Shiloh in 2006.
Jolie, a U.N. Goodwill Ambassador, has arrived in Chad to witness the devastating situation for Sudan's refugees. Not able to go directly to Sudan's capital, Darfur, because of violence and instability, the mother of three is heading to a refugee camp just two miles from the country's border.
Jolie's political advisor, Trevor Neilson, told PEOPLE that the star's visit is aimed at raising global awareness on refugees and to see the living conditions of the war torn people.
"The Good Shepherd" star's last mission to Africa for the U.N. was in 2004.
Amid rumors that Jolie is continuing her work with underprivileged nations by adopting a Vietnamese child, the actress has been admitted into the prestigious Council on Foreign Relations. Elected by an existing member, Jolie will be joining some of the world's most powerful people in their bid to bring world peace.
She joins other famous political names such as Dick Cheney, Condoleezza Rice, Henry Kissinger, Colin Powell and Alan Greenspan.
International-affairs professor, Dr. Gordon Adams, is excited about the results the sexy star could bring to the organization.
He told the New York Post newspaper, "Bring her on. The idea of having Henry Kissinger and Angelina Jolie in the same organization is dazzling."
Any criticism about a Hollywood actress joining the ranks is unfounded, says Carol Adelman, former head of U.S. foreign-aid programs and member.
She told the newspaper, "It's not like Paris Hilton is being nominated."
