Johnny Depp almost lost his iconic role as "Edward Scissorhands" in 1990 to Tom Cruise as the producers had wanted a famous actor to play the lead. A relatively unknown Depp had really wanted to play the eccentric role but studio bosses wanted the "Top Gun" actor instead.

Johnny Depp is getting married. The "Pirates of the Caribbean" star is reportedly set to marry longtime partner Vanessa Paradis on June 14. Sources say that Depp, 44, has changed his mind about marriage when his lover and mother of his children suddenly wanted to get married. He used to say that they don't feel the need to walk down the aisle to make their relationship official.

He may play eccentrics in films but in real life, Johnny Depp plays an action hero. The multi-award winning star saved a group of extras from being hit by a car at the set of his latest movie "Public Enemies." The 44-year-old Depp was shooting a scene in the crime drama film when a stuntman driving a 1933 Ford car sped onto a patch of ice and spun out towards six extras. The minor actors had their backs turned, thus, they were oblivious to the danger that was approaching them.

Johnny Depp has been offered $10 million to represent a condom brand. The "Pirates of the Caribbean" star is said to be considering an offer made by condom company Trojan, which would help inspire an anti-AIDS campaign to the third world countries. The contraception company believes the 44-year-old Hollywood hunk would not only increase their sales in the U.S. but would also help launch an anti-AIDS fight for the economically undeveloped countries.

Johnny Depp is holding open auditions to find screenwriters for his latest movie. The 'Pirates of the Caribbean' star will play surrealist painter Salvador Dali in new film 'Dali' and is keen to get the right script, regardless of who it comes from.
