A country music landmark, the home of Johnny Cash and June Carter, has burned down.
The Nashville property, which was purchased by Bee Gee singer Barry Gibb after the musical legend's 2003 death, was the only home the couple ever shared together. Married in the 1960's, Cash and Carter lived in the house until their deaths in 2003, which were just months apart.
Cash's brother Tommy, said, "Johnny and June lived there the entire time they were married. It was the only house they lived in together until they both passed on.''
Son-in-law and singer Marty Stuart, also a neighbor, said, "So many prominent things and prominent people in American history took place in that house - everyone from Billy Graham to Bob Dylan went into that house. It was a sanctuary and a fortress for him. There was a lot of writing that took place there.''
Authorities said one firefighter suffered injuries and the cause of the blaze is unknown.
