Jessica Simpson better start reading the newspaper because her boyfriend is getting political.
Grammy Award-winning singer John Mayer has been talking to presidential possibility John Edwards about getting the young vote.
Mayer, who is dating famously ditzy Jessica, met the politician at Time magazine's "most influential" people celebration.
According to MTV, Mayer told Edwards to cater to America's youth by grabbing their attention early.
Edwards explained, "He basically said, 'You've got to get me in the first 20 seconds.'"
The report suggests that the "Waiting On The World To Change" singer is taking action rather than waiting and will continue meeting with Edwards to discuss politics and campaigns.
But winning the top spot in the Oval Office isn't the only thing Mayer knows something about. He is using the same tactic to get people to be environmentally friendly.
He reportedly said, "We have to sell green to people in a way that grabs their attention quickly."
Mayer has been dating pop-tart Jessica for almost one year.
