Out with the old, in with the new. It seems like not everybody has been pleased working for Jessica Simpson lately. The ditzy blonde's assistant has reportedly said she is "too smart" to work for the pop star.

Jessica hired Adrienne Sands - a graduate of the University of Wisconsin - to replace her former assistant Cacee Cobb. However, Sands is seemingly unhappy with her new job and wants to quit.

From creating an edible perfume/lotion line to selling her own brand of shoes for women, Jessica Simpson is becoming quite the well-established entrepreneur - despite being portrayed as the "dumb blonde" on MTV's "Newlyweds" a few years ago. Now the pop singer is reportedly set to open her own chain of barbeque restaurants called "Daisy Duke's."

The "Dukes of Hazzard" star will provide backing for the restaurants - which will feature scantily-clad waitresses in tiny hot pants - named after her most famous movie character from the film remake of the hit television show.

Jessica Simpson's publicist is out the door! Joe Simpson was allegedly very upset and angered by the way his daughter's former publicist, Rob Shulter, handled the rumored relationship between her and crooning singer John Mayer, so he sent the man packing.

Nick Lachey won't be getting much after all. Jessica Simpson offered her ex-husband just $1.5 million of the $36 million they earned as a married couple in their divorce settlement.

Before they were married, Jessica refused to sign a pre-nuptial agreement so both she and Nick were entitled to 50% of their joint earnings, mainly generated from their hugely popular show on MTV "Newlyweds."

It looks like Nick Lachey won't be getting his fair share of the deal. The hot singer and his former wife, Jessica Simpson, have divided up their assets, but Nick is getting a lot less than he bargained for.

TMZ has learned exclusively that the couple did not sign a pre-nup agreement prior to getting married, so under California law Jessica was required to divide half of her assets, which are estimated at $36 million, to former husband Nick Lachey. Under California law, the pair would equally get $18 million each.

Jessica Simpson's mom reportedly stopped her from posing for a racy photo shoot to maintain her girl next door image.

The singer-turned-actress, who is now divorced from ex-husband Nick Lachey, recently posed for America's OK! magazine but her mom was unhappy with the publication's plans for the shoot.
