Pop star Jessica Simpson is continuing her leap to the silver screen by accepting the lead in a new romantic comedy.
The blonde stunner, who has become a household name since starring in the MTV reality show "Newlyweds" with ex-husband Nick Lachey, has confirmed the she will be playing the lead in "Blonde Ambition."
The chick-flick, co-starring "Old School" star Luke Wilson, has a similar theme to 80s classic "Working Girl."
Simpson, who made her big screen debut in the big-screen adaptation of "Dukes Of Hazard", reveals that she will be playing an ambitious career woman who moves to the big city.
She said, "It's definitely the theme of Working Girl. This small-town girl moving to New York City and rising up into this great career as a businesswomen. But it's definitely not a remake."
The ditzy star, who recently released an album, says that she is excited by the opportunity to stretch her acting talents.
She said, "I've never had the leading role and with this one it's really going to be nice to just dive in and kinda wrap my arms around it."
