Jessica Simpson fled her birthday party to escape some unwelcome gatecrashers.
The blonde singer celebrated her 27th birthday at the beach with five friends followed by lunch at Malibu's Silver Spoon Beach House on Tuesday.
However, paparazzi found out about Jessica's plans and just as her birthday meal was being served more than a dozen photographers surrounded the restaurant.
Jessica was reportedly not willing to put up with the intrusion and cut the party short.
A source told E! Online: "She couldn't deal with it. She kept saying she didn't want her friends to go through that. So, they stayed inside and then just left."
On Monday, Jessica was treated to an early birthday surprise. The 'Employee of the Month' star returned home to Los Angeles following a family trip to Texas and was greeted by a SUV car covered in 'Happy Birthday' decorations.
Jessica has made no secret of her unhappiness about growing older. During an episode of her MTV reality show with ex-husband Nick Lachey, 'Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica', in which the ditzy blonde turned 23, she moaned: "23 is almost 25 which is almost mid 20's."
