Jessica Simpson is officially single again.
The stunning singer and actress is back on the market after ending her relationship with John Mayer for the last time. The pair, who have dated on and off for a year, have reportedly parted ways for good.
A source close to singer/songwriter John told PEOPLE, "It has been rocky and it had been rocky, and it reached the end of the road. It is definitely over - the relationship has ended."
John was Jessica's first serious love since splitting from husband Nick Lachey in 2005. She has been linked to other Hollywood bachelors, such as Adam Lavigne and Johnny Knoxville, but it was her time with John that made her smile.
Despite traveling with John his U.S. tour, and escaping to Rome for a quick romantic getaway, sources close to both Jess and John say that trouble has been in paradise for some time.
A Jessica insider added, "They broke up Sunday night, but who knows what the future will hold. This is the twelfth time they've broken up. Their relationship is volatile. Last week they felt better than ever. This week, things are rocky. Who knows what the future will bring."
While Jessica's friends seem optimistic that the two stars could one day find happiness together, John's camp say that enough is enough and the relationship is finished.
John's source stressed, "They tried to make it work. They dated for a year."
Jessica, one of Hollywood's most eligible bachelorettes, will have no trouble finding admirers. The busy star is about to start press for her film, "Blonde Ambition."
