Celebrities are either backing up Tom Cruise and the Church of Scientology are they are mum about it. But Jerry O'Connell bravely parodies the Top Gun actor and the controversial religion in the new video by funnyordie.com.

Cruise's footage about his interview regarding Scientology being a privilege was leaked on the Internet. O'Connell took advantage of the current buzz and created video with background and clothing similar to Cruise's. In the video, he can be seen mimicking Cruise's gesture and laugh while he talks about how being an actor is a privilege.

"It is an honor to be an actor, it is a privilege to be an actor. And you would just know someone else is an actor just by looking at he or she because actors are usually not working," he goes on to say.

"It is a privilege to be an actor because you know that they really are no help to anyone." O'Connell then can be seen impersonating Cruise's laugh.

O'Connell also mentions KFC's chicken and the current Hollywood hot topic, and traveling all over Los Angeles, and the Writers Guild of America strike.

"Now is the time to help the Writers Guild of America. Now is the time. And if you don't know how to help them, then learn how to help them."

The hilarious 3-minute video is quickly making rounds on the Internet. O'Connell co-produces the clip, Jerry Minor directs.

Tom Cruis's elevated view of his self inportance is greatly over estamated. I am a college educated individual who is still looking for work and hoping I'll find something in the next few weeks before my bennifits run out. Learning now that Pres. Bush would have vetoed the bill that would have extended my benn's. because there is not enough of us registered to collect unemployment, or still collecting bens. The light hearted view O'Connell takes towards TC's bizzair actions is a great break. Yes Tom You ARE USELESS and if their is one person who should take a light hearted look towards themself it is TC. Reconize your best performance was in 16 candels.

mr. hoffman claims to be "college educated". how come how come he can't spell?
June 12, 2008 - 07:30AM
That's exactly what I was wondering.
June 12, 2008 - 07:32AM
Maybe he could find a job if he spelled correctly on his resume'.
June 12, 2008 - 07:50AM
I assume you mean 16 candles? Cruise was not in that movie, brainiac.
June 12, 2008 - 07:55AM
Mr. Hoffmann it seems to me is also one of those immature adults that runs arround putting blame on all thier problems on Presidents of The United States.
Mr. Hoffman when you decide to be a grown man and take responsibilities for your actions and can learn to tell the truth then you can comment about other people but until then go back to college and learn how to spell and grow up cuz becuase you obviousely are a liar and i'm guessing under 18.
June 12, 2008 - 07:57AM
I just got of work so forgive my double becuase thing on what i posted not sure how to edit it since 1st time on this site.

Your plethora of critical comments on spelling demonstrates a criticality not often found in blogs except in the defense of a non-sustainable position. You might just try ignoring or accepting the opinion of others. This is usually called "tolerance". This is a good thing to practice, no matter who you are.

Mr. Hoffman, please do your best to learn to spell. I don't know why the article actually says that Jerry "bravely parodies" Tom to be honest. Parody is something that has become status quo in today's American culture. Unfortunately I find little imagination at work in a parody but I don't claim to represent the mainstream of American comedy fans. Isn't it great that we live in a country that we don't have to agree all the time? However, I do think that Tom Cruise is whacked out.
June 12, 2008 - 08:36AM
Um, your college educated yet you spell like a 4 year old?
June 12, 2008 - 08:47AM - Linda G.
Jerry's expose is hilarious. Hope MI VI fails terribly. Tom Cruise needs to grow a since of humor but at 5' 4" there is probably no room.
June 12, 2008 - 08:56AM - sheddy
Um.even my four year old knows how to use the contraction you're when speaking of someone being college educated.
June 12, 2008 - 09:52AM
Just an FYI to all who commented: Mr. Hoffmann isn't the only one who cannot spell, ie there-their and your-you're. Nothing irks me more. "Since of humor" shouldn't that be "sense of humor"?

That first post is unbelievable. I can just see him filling out a job application. No wonder he is out of work. I cry for our youth if that is the kind of college graduate the system is churning out today. Perhaps an exit exam from college is needed just like in high schools to curtail "social" graduations.
As for Tom Cruise and scientology, why should we expect anything better from a cult and one of its major proponents? They would be kidnapping their critics and cutting their heads off if they could get away with it. Let us not forget that scientology is the invention of a science FICTION writer. Fiction is the key word.

Maybe English is their second language, ergo the misspelled words. You actually put that hard earned time to check peoples spelling.
June 12, 2008 - 03:50PM - Ava
Tom is really a great guy and a creative actor and film maker. I can see that he really cares about people and he just wants to help them in the ways that he believes will help (Scientology). He has slipped in popularity lately, because he breached the rule, and started talking religion and "politics".
Tom just needs to keep a low profile for a year or so, and then come back transformed. After the year out of tabloids and away from controversy and commenting on things outside of "the business" he will be welcomed back with open arms, just as if it all never happened. But, he should not talk about Scientology or his other issues again, if he wants the public to relate to him and if he wants to gain back his popularity.
People do not relate to Scientology, or extreme emotions from anyone really. Celebrity is like acting, keep it subtle. And, frankly, we do not relate to his marriage to Katie Holmes. We liked him better with Nicole. What happened?? - Do not make a movie with Katie. That will REALLY mess you up.
Tom keep out of the tabloids, if you can; and then come back. Do something like "RainMan" - that's the film that sold me on you.

The only posting and e-mail chains I have ever read that seem to be devoid of spelling and grammatical errors are from members the Mega society which requires a stratospheric I.Q. over 160 to be accepted.

The rest of us make up a confederacy of dunces.

Go Jerry. Tom Cruise needs a 40,0 mile check up on the brain. That said the guy is absolutely mesmerizing to watch. No wonder he is a Hollywood super star.

Mr Hoffman higher than a space ship he must of been smoking during learning time at school

As a teacher and college graduate,(duh) I also find the spelling and grammatical errors of some people appalling. However, being from a free society, we can pretty much say what we want about anyone we want. And apparently we can write it any way we want, inventive spelling included. I enjoy both actors' movies. What I don't want to hear is someone expounding his religious beliefs in public. Keep it to yourself and find a better cause to talk about.

this spelling thing is a very sad commentary of our
educational system, and for god's sake there's always
spell check.
i haven't like tom cruise since risky business, he's an
arrogant, little man.
June 12, 2008 - 10:14PM
Wow, how very, very sad. In each reply about spelling, there is at least one spelling errer.

Yes, that error was just for good measure.
June 12, 2008 - 10:15PM - spelling is hard
Dude.start reading some children's books so you can learn how to spell simple words.
June 12, 2008 - 11:22PM - jb
I remember meeting Tom Cruise in the mid 1980's at a Davids Cookies on second avenem NY. He was less than nice to some fans. this was about 2 years after risky business and you could see he was full of himself and on the ay to being an arrogant twit.
June 13, 2008 - 12:07AM
Yall aernt verry nice to peples arye.
June 13, 2008 - 04:23AM
Ironic, most of these criticisms come from people who speak the Americanised version of English..English is English people no matter where you are..Try consulting an Oxford dictionary!
June 13, 2008 - 10:34AM - Ava
I've seen Tom Cruise in person, and he is not a "little man" at all. He is medium and husky. He seems to marry tall women who also wear high heels. So, obviously he is not intimidated by them and he does not view his height as an issue to worry about.
