Jerry Lewis has had a minor heart attack.
The legendary comic is recovering in hospital after having the minor seizure on Sunday (11.06.06) just after flying from New York to San Diego.
His publicist, Candi Cazau, said, "It was determined that he suffered a very minor heart attack, and that he has a touch of pneumonia. He's doing extremely well."
Lewis, 80, is expected to make a full recovery.
The star recently announced he is to turn his classic movie "The Nutty Professor" into a Broadway musical.
The 1963 comedy - which was remade in 1996 with Eddie Murphy as the lead character - will hit the New York stage in October 2008.
The show will be directed by Lewis.
At the Las Vegas launch he said, "I had an awful lot of inquiries about it for years, but I never really bothered to pay much attention to it."
Lewis claims it was while watching musician Michael Andrew perform on stage that he decided he had found his lead actor and would go ahead with the production.
He revealed, "I saw this kid perform, and he wanted very much to do that, and he had money. I said, 'With those pockets, we'll give it a shot'."
