Jerry Hall has revealed her violent father beat her throughout her childhood.

The former supermodel, the ex-wife of Sir Mick Jagger, says her drug addicted, alcoholic father John Hall hit her and her four sisters so hard he broke their bones.

Speaking in an interview with an Irish radio station, the 51-year-old Texan beauty said: "He would talk to us like soldiers. He was very imaginative in his insults, and that is hard to get over. He was very violent. He took uppers (drugs) and would come home and beat us five girls. He broke bones."

Jerry's father, a former U.S. army sergeant-turned-truck driver, wanted a boy so badly he gave his daughters all male names. She believes her dad was driven to alcohol and drugs because of his own upbringing and war experiences.

She added: "His father drank and his mother died when he was a baby - you try to understand why someone became so violent. Horrible things happened to my father. He had to release people from a prison of war camp and found 18,000 dead bodies."

Jerry ran away to Paris at the age of 16 and within a few years became one of the world's top catwalk models. She has four children with Rolling Stones frontman Mick, but the couple are now divorced.

Jerry recently signed a $2 million book deal with Harper Collins to publish her autobiography.
