Janet Jackson says the fear of failure keeps her alive.

The 'Feedback' singer, who was hospitalized with flu symptoms on Monday night, hates losing and views everyone in the music industry as a threat to her success.

Janet said: "Everyone is my competition! I still feel the same way. Even though I do feel there's room for everyone as long as I'm first - no, I'm just kidding!"

"I grew up competitive. We even grew up like that as brothers and sisters, but it's a healthy competition. It keeps me going. It keeps me moving the way music and other things do."

The 41-year-old star has been busy promoting her latest album 'Discipline', which is currently number one on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart.

Janet revealed she named her new LP 'Discipline' because she has always wanted to be in control of her life - even when she was growing up.

She added to Essence.com: "Discipline has always been a part of me. When I started to perform onstage with my brothers and sisters, I would do my own hair. And not just in a messy way that a little kid would do, it had to be very neat. That's a lot of discipline for a kid and I've always had that."
