Britney's pregnant 16-year-old sister Jamie Lynn Spears has a lot of things to worry about, but not as much as her boyfriend who could be facing prison sentence.
19-year-old Casey Aldridge could be charged with statutory rape charges for having sexual intercourse with his girlfriend, a minor. It was reported that if the baby was conceived in the Spears' home state of Louisiana, he could be charged with "felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile," which has up to 10 years imprisonment.
Louisiana law defines unlawful carnal knowledge as "sexual intercourse with consent between someone age 19 or older and someone between age 12 and 17."
Spears and Aldridge fall into this group.
And if the act was done in California? The state's penal code states that any person who engages in an act of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor under 18 who is not more than three year younger than the perpetrator is guilty of a misdemeanor and faces up to one year in a country jail.
Californian criminal defense lawyer Jim Hammer says, "If Aldridge is actually more than three years older he could be up for a felony, which carries a maximum three years in prison."
News of the younger Spears' pregnancy broke in Wednesday as Spears and her mom went to OK! magazine for an exclusive.
