Jamie Foxx is addicted to chess.

The 38-year-old star has been playing the mentally challenging board game since he was seven or eight and admits he is addicted.

He said: "My biological father taught me how to play chess - I don't know whether it was because he wanted us to bond over it or what - and as soon as he showed me how to play, I just went off on it."

Foxx, whose parents split up when he was a child, has also revealed chess allowed him and his estranged father to bond again after they were reunited after 20 years of being apart.

He revealed to Britain's Live magazine: "Playing a game of chess was how we picked up our relationship again. He was terrible. I beat him easily and I looked at him and said, 'How did you teach me?'

However, Foxx is not the only movie star who has a passion for the board game. His friends Will Smith and Al Pacino are fellow chess players.

He explained: "It's OK to lose to Will Smith or Al Pacino, because it just gives me a chance to hang out more with those guys, hear their stories and learn from them."
