Actress Hilary Swank is rumored to have comforted Oscar winner Philip Seymour Hoffman after he forgot to thank his girlfriend in his acceptance speech when accepting his Academy Award.

Hilary did the same thing when she won the award in 2000. Hilary presented the "Capote" star with the Best Actor prize at the Los Angeles Oscar ceremony and as the two were walking offstage, Hoffman realized he had forgotten to thank his supportive girlfriend, Mimi O'Donnell.

The couple separated late last year and have been trying to save their marriage ever since.

Swank's manager said in a statement, "Hilary and Chad have decided to separate, but they are hopeful they'll be able to get through this tough time." He did not give a reason for the separation.
