Helena Christensen wants to adopt a child from Peru.

The half-Peruvian supermodel - who has a seven-year-old son Mingus - wants to give a home to a child from her mother's native country if she fails to conceive naturally again.

Helena, 38, told Britain's Hello! magazine: "If I can't have a second child. I would love to adopt from Peru. I would be amazing to help a child but also amazing for Mingus to grow up with another child from his grandmother's culture."

Helena - who split from Mingus' father, actor Norman Reedus, five year ago - admits her biological clock is ticking.

She said: "I would love another child. I know the window of opportunity gets smaller and smaller but I have a feeling it is going to happen for me when I am about 40 or 41."

However, the catwalk queen has ruled out marriage.

She added: "Absolutely not. There is something very beautiful about dedicating yourself to another person for the rest of your life - believe me I am the first to cry at weddings - but it is not for me. My lifestyle doesn't lend itself to marriage and I am fiercely independent."
