If it was a plot for "Melrose Place," Heather Locklear and Jake Wagner would definitely be together.
However, in real life the former co-stars are just friends - nothing more, according to those who know them.Following a dinner date at Mr. Chow's in Beverly Hill's last week, reports have linked the pair as a new hot couple.
With both actors currently in the process of divorcing their former spouses, the date couldn't be better timing.
However, there is nothing happening. A friend of "The Bold And The Beautiful" star told PEOPLE, "[They] have been friends since "Melrose Place." There's definitely no change in their relationship. They [just] went out with a bunch of her friends."
One witness disagrees and said, "They were holding hands and really focused on each other."
But others dismiss any possible chance of a romance.
A Locklear pal said, "She holds her friends' hands all the time. Men, women - it doesn't mean anything."
If a relationship was to happen, there's one Locklear friend who wouldn't be disappointed. Of 47-year-old Wagner, she said, "He's super funny, charming, considerate and a little irreverent. I don't think anyone would be sad if [something more] happened."
Since splitting with Richie Sambora, the former "Spin City" star has also been linked to David Spade but has had no serious relationship.
A source said, "David saw her through some really sad times, but they were never more than friends."
Bon Jovi guitarist Sambora is dating Locklear's former friend, Denise Richards.
