Gwen Stefani was seen sobbing uncontrollably backstage at her own fashion show. The 'Wind It Up' singer was reduced to tears before showcasing her new L.A.M.B. collection at New York fashion week last Wednesday, after recalling memories of creating clothes with her mother.

A source is quoted by the New York Daily News newspaper as saying: "Before Gwen went out on stage she was sobbing uncontrollably backstage. When asked what was wrong she just said she was so overwhelmed. She talked about how she used to sew with her mother and now she has realized her dream as an adult, who has her own baby. Fashion is what matters to her."

Gwen and her rock star husband Gavin Rossdale have a 15-month old son, Kingston. The 37-year-old singer recently admitted she has become jealous of Kingston's close relationship with his father.

She said: "Kingston is super into his dad right now and I'm a little, well, 'What about me?.'"

Stefani started L.A.M.B. in 2004 and her first design effort was a range of handbags. The line quickly expanded into clothing, shoes and accessories.

Her collection for Wednesday's show included retro frocks and military-inspired jackets and was almost exclusively black-and-white.

Gwen has previously insisted her foray into fashion is an important "creative outlet" away from her music.
