Remember when Lindsay Lohan was sent a letter by a film producer and called irresponsible?
Lindsay certainly remembers it, especially because it was made public, and the knowledge that her hard partying was affecting her work sent her to rehab shortly after filming for "Georgia Rule" wrapped.
The infamous letter, where Morgan Creek Productions chief James G. Robinson called the 20-year-old star "unprofessional" and revealed he knew her absence from work was because of "all-night heavy partying," is a topic of discussion now that the film has been released.
Director Gary Marshall, the man behind making Julia Roberts a "Pretty Woman," told PEOPLE that after some "tough love" he and Lindsay have a great relationship.
He said, "Once somebody walks on my set, it's my problem, but we can't go chasing them. This film is low-budget. We can't lose days...Tough love is a part of this business - she missed a day on the second week of shooting. Jim wrote the memo, and she came the next day and we were fine."
Co-star Jane Fonda believes that Lindsay gets a bad wrap in the press. Taking time to think of the actress's childhood, which was spent movie making while her dad was in prison, Jane told Us Weekly magazine, "We can't know what it's like to grow up famous starting at 12 with such family problems. We have to give Lindsay a break sometimes and be a little more understanding."
Gary is just as understanding after learning that Lindsay has been involved in a cocaine scandal. He said, "Any publicity is good publicity, but in this case, I think it distorts what a good actress Lindsay is."
