Gareth Gates is to marry his long-term girlfriend.
The 23-year-old singer proposed to dancer Suzanne Mole, 32, on New Year's Eve, and was thrilled when she said "yes".
He said: "After a great Christmas I proposed to Suzanne on New Year's Eve and she said, 'Yes'.
"We are both extremely happy and looking forward to planning our wedding and life together."
Gareth met Suzanne in 2002 shortly after shooting to fame as the runner-up to Will Young in the first series of British talent show 'Pop Idol'.
His career initially took off with four number one singles in the UK and worldwide record sales of 3.5 million, but his success was short-lived and he was dropped by label Sony BMG in April 2006.
Last year, he returned with new album 'Changes' with limited success. Gareth previously enjoyed a fling with glamour model Jordan - real name Katie Price. The busty brunette took his virginity when he was only 17 and she was six months pregnant.
He is tipped to appear on ITV series 'Dancing on Ice' later this month.
