Steve Martin has married fiance Anne Stringfield in a surprise ceremony. The 'Father of the Bride' actor tied the knot with the former New Yorker journalist at his Los Angeles home.

Guests at the wedding - who included Tom Hanks, Diane Keaton and Eugene Levy - were not informed of the nuptials and had instead been told they would be attending an intimate dinner party.

Nebraska Senator Bob Kerry, Martin's long-time friend, conducted the ceremony, while the best man was 'Saturday Night Live' producer Lorne Michaels.

Martin and 35-year-old Stringfield - who currently writes for America's prestigious Vogue magazine - started dating in December 2002.

The 61-year-old actor divorced his first wife, Victoria Tennant - his co-star in 'All Of Me' and 'L.A. Story' - in 1994 after eight years of marriage and went on to date actress Anne Heche.

In 2005, Martin was linked to former 'Sex and the City' actress Kristin Davis although both denied rumors of a romance.
