Foxy Brown has responded to the lawsuit filed by book publisher Simon and Schuster for not finishing her memoir, saying they're the one who halted the project.
The rapper, whose real name is Inga Marchand, was recently sued by the publishing company to recover the $75,000 advance deposit they gave her in 2004 to write her autobiography Broken Silence.
But the hip-hop artist's camp claims she had agreed with Simon and Schuster to cancel the project.
Her lawyer Laura Dilimetin tells AllHip-Hop.com, "With Simon and Schuster's blessing, Foxy Brown underwent extensive surgical procedures and a lengthy recovery time, fighting to restore her hearing."
Dilimetin continues that the company "decided not to go forward with the project" despite Foxy's attempts to continue the deal.
She says, "I find it suspect that after all of these years of silence, Simon and Schuster pick now to bring this meritless action when they were the ones to halt the project."
The company is also suing rapper Lil' Kim for non-delivery of her memoir, which they also paid for in advance.
