Former "American Idol" crown holder Ruben Studdard has acquired a marriage license in Alabama on Monday.
A source says the 29-year-old pop/R&B singer arrived at the Shelby County Probate Office in Birmingham with fiance Surata Zuri McCants.
They left the establishment with the license secured.
An Alabama marriage permit is valid for 30 days. Studdard, 29, and McCants, 30, would have to get married before then.
Studdard won the hit reality talent contest in 2003, beating out runner-up Clay Aiken to the title. He is the second "American Idol" champ following Kelly Clarkson.
