Surfboard trophies were given to Robert Pattinson, Miley Cyrus, Megan Fox and Leighton Meester, who stunned in a tiered taffeta Louis Vuitton frock. Meester, who was honored for her role as Blair Waldorf on Gossip Girl, has also been making waves in the music industry: The actress-turned-singer lent vocals to Cobra Starship’s current chart-climbing hit “Good Girls Go Bad.”

In his provocative new comedy Spread, Ashton Kutcher plays the boy toy of an L.A. corporate lawyer (Anne Heche). The hunky actor, joined by costar Heche and wife Demi Moore, looked particularly dapper at a Las Vegas screening of the film this week. And Moore was typically stunning, in a black one-shoulder dress by Roland Mouret.

Michelle Trachtenberg’s latest small-screen role is a dramatic departure from Georgina Sparks, the vamp she portrays on Gossip Girl. In NBC’s new hospital series Mercy, she plays Chloe, a jittery novice nurse who cheerfully dons Hello Kitty scrubs much to the irritation of fellow staffers. At NBC Universal’s All-Star Press Tour party Wednesday night, Trachtenberg went a chicer route, opting for a nude-hued chiffon minidress with a bejeweled collar (she offset its understated palette brilliantly with a bright red pout).

Jon Hamm, January Jones, and the rest of Mad Men’s comely cast stepped out for the L.A. premiere of the AMC period drama’s third season Monday night. Jones looked far more contemporary than her character, ‘60s housewife Betty Draper, in a navy cutout Andrew Gn number, which she cinched with a black patent-leather belt and paired with Brian Atwood pumps.

The stellar lineup at this year’s All Points West included Jay-Z, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Vampire Weekend, Coldplay, MGMT, and plenty of other A-list acts—and we were as anxious to witness the fashions of festival-goers offstage as we were the performances. The Carrera Sunglasses & Columbia Records APW after-party, held at NYC’s Cooper Square Hotel, was attended by the likes of Alexander Wang, the Ting Tings, and Agyness Deyn, who covered up an all-black outfit with a psychedelic topper.

Julie & Julia, Nora Ephron’s cinematic adaptation of two memoirs—Julie Powell’s Julie & Julia and Julia Child’s My Life in France—stars Amy Adams as Powell, a blogger determined to master every recipe in Child’s cookbook. At the movie’s New York premiere, Adams looked deliciously sexy in a shoulder-baring, floor-sweeping gown by Carolina Herrera (and her gold clutch added an extra dash of style).

In the offbeat romantic comedy Adam, Brit actor Hugh Dancy plays a man with Asperger’s Syndrome who begins an awkward courtship with his upstairs neighbor (Rose Byrne). Dancy and his real-life significant other, fiancé Claire Danes, however, are the picture of elegance. At a Cinema Society screening of the film last night, Danes stunned in a strapless white Zac Posen gown adorned with an eye-catching metallic belt (Posen also turned out for the screening).

In the new thriller The Orphan, Peter Sarsgaard and Vera Farmiga play a husband and wife who adopt an evil nine-year-old after losing their unborn child. Despite the movie’s dark, sinister theme, Farmiga (know for her roles in 2006’s Running Scared and The Departed) looked positively angelic at its L.A. premiere, in an elegant white one-shouldered gown and gold clutch by Versace.

In the new rom-com The Ugly Truth, Katherine Heigl plays a perpetually single TV producer who allows her chauvinist co-worker (Gerard Butler) to give her advice on affaires de coeur. Heigl certainly didn’t need sartorial guidance at the movie’s Hollywood premiere this week. The elegant Grey’s Anatomy star stunned in a tulle cocktail dress by Lanvin, a gray snakeskin Tod’s clutch, and pearls by David Yurman.
