Johnny Depp is to be presented with the freedom of Paris.
The "Pirates of the Caribbean" star has lived in France with his partner Vanessa Paradis and their two children - Lily Rose, seven, and Jack, four - for several years, with Depp admitting he prefers his "simpler" life in France compared to the craziness of Hollywood.
The 43-year-old actor will be presented with the honor before the French premiere of the "Pirates of the Caribbean" sequel, "Dead Man's Chest", in Paris Thursday night.
A city official said: "The freedom is given only to those who demonstrate devotion to Paris, so Johnny is thrilled."
Depp has previously admitted he was happy to turn his back on the US,
saying: "America is dumb, is something like a dumb puppy that has big teeth - that can bite and hurt you, aggressive."
The actor met French star Vanessa while filming "The Ninth Gate" in 1998.
