Once upon a time Evangeline Lilly had no desire of making it into television, and she absolutely dreads it now that she's famous. So, why did she venture off to Hollywood to begin with?
Evangeline recently said that she only chose to become an actress in order to overcome her shyness.
The Canadian-born actress - who plays alluring convict Kate in the hit show "Lost" - claims she only started going to film auditions to rid herself of her insecurities.
She told Star magazine, "For ages I didn't want to be noticed. Then I decided to assert myself by going to auditions."
Despite achieving huge success, Evangeline - who is engaged to her "Lost" co-star Dominic Monaghan - hates being famous.
She explained, "I've struggled with fame. I don't like it and I've never wanted it. It's an ugly world, with the pressures, the lack of privacy and the lack of anonymity. It's something I've been grappling with and I don't yet know whether to embrace it, ignore it or reject it."
The 26-year-old star is planning on becoming a writer when her acting career comes to an end, so she can enjoy a quieter life.
She said, "If I could act and make the income I make and be anonymous, I would never want to leave the job, but if I have my way in this life, after "Lost" is over, I would become a writer. Writing has been one of the most powerful influences in my life and it always has been since I was a little girl."
