Eva Mendes channels femininity as she talks about her latest film, her woman role model, and just about everything as she graces the September issue of Marie Claire magazine.
The latest endorser of Calvin Klein scent talks about her first true blue chick flick, "The Women," where she works with the all-girl cast consisting of Annette Bening, Meg Ryan, Debra Messing, Jada Pinkett Smith, Cloris Leachman, Candice Bergen and Bette Midler.
Mendes, 33, who usually works with guys in films, suddenly found herself dressing up in rehearsals for the film surrounded by women. She says it inspires her to make herself "cute" because her co-stars are going to be cute.
"I'm sure I sound like a ditz saying this, but it's a girl thing. A timeless, ageless, ethnicity-less girl thing."
The actress also reveals her true role model in the person of Hollywood timeless beauty Annette Bening, saying, "Annette's got taste and class. She reminds me of one of those women back in the '40s and '50s. She's a broad, and I want to be a broad. ...to have femininity and a voice, to play the Hollywood game without getting pushed around."
Marie Claire September issue is available on newsstands on August 12.
