Blues singer Amy Winehouse is doing a good job of living and breathing the philosophy behind her musical genre.

Rather than present herself as a bubbly pop star like other young singers do, Winehouse has taken a different tact and talked opening about her love of alcohol, dabbling with drugs and battles with depression.

Now, the 23-year-old award winning singer has admitted to self harm.

Talking to Q magazine, the "Rehab" singer said, "It's a funny thing, a morbid curiosity. I'm talking about when I was nine. What does that feel like? 'Ow, that f***ing hurts.' It's probably the worst thing I've done."

While she is no longer cutting herself, Winehouse says she can still get violent when she is drunk.

She continued, "Not punching myself in the face, but slapping. I drank a whole bottle of champagne and then just got depressed. I didn't feel like I looked good. And I'm quite self-destructive when I'm drunk."

Her drinking escapades have been making headlines in the press, recently for all the wrong reasons. Her drunken nature caused the singer to cancel two shows in London recently, upsetting many fans. Now, Winehouse has revealed why - saying she fell over while she was drunk.

According to contactmusic.com, she explained, "I broke a big tooth. I had a massive gap in the front of my mouth."
