Sir Elton John is auctioning one of his favourite hats to raise cash for an AIDS charity.

The flamboyant singer has joined a group of generous celebrities who are selling their possessions to help fight the killer disease.

The 'Bid 2 Beat Aids' auction will begin on internet auction site eBay on December 1 - which is world AIDS day.

The sale - which will raise money for the LIFEbeat charity - features up to 1,000 rare and autographed items from stars in music, film, theatre and television.

Up for grabs is the podium from the 2005 MTV movie awards, signed by Tom Cruise, Nicole Kidman and Katie Holmes, and gold records from No Doubt and Coldplay - as well as Elton's hat.

Meanwhile, Justin Timberlake has been lined up to play the Elton in a new TV show.

The handsome 24-year-old will star in a special about the rocker called, 'Elton John: The Red Piano'.

The show will be directed by David Lachappelle and features Justin as a young Elton.

Also starring is busty blonde Pamela Anderson.

The ex-'Baywatch' babe performs a pole dance during a rendition of Elton's classic hit 'The Bitch is Back'.

The program will be aired in the US on December 14.
