"Grey's Anatomy" star Ellen Pompeo has condemned the media for highlighting the wrong moves of rich and famous celebrities who set bad example for the younger generation. The 37-year-old actress also slammed the tabloids that attribute her "naturally slender" body to an eating disorder.
"We're so focused on the wrong things. We're teaching young girls that this is what they should be focusing on: rich and famous girls who are rich and famous for nothing," Pompeo said in an apparent reference to troubled stars such as Paris Hilton, Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan.
"I just think the media should take this country in a different direction," she told the Los Angeles Confidential Magazine.
Pompeo also rejected the claims that she starves herself to maintain her sleek looks.
"I just worry about the girls who look up to me - I don't want them to think I starve myself or don't eat, and that to be like me that's what they have to do," she said.
