"Juno" star Ellen Page is set to play one of literature's most famous characters. The young star has been tapped to play "Jane Eyre."

Producer Alison Owen of the recent "The Other Boleyn Girl" is working with BBC Films to create a new adaptation of Charlotte Bronte's 19th century classic romance. Moira Buffini writes the screenplay.

"Jane Eyre" is the story of a governess who thaws the heart of her employer Mr. Rochester, who has secrets of his own.

Page, 21, had played mutant Kitty Pryde in "X-Men: The Last Stand" and the multi-award winning comedy-drama "Juno." She recently starred in "Smart People" alongside Dennis Quaid and Sarah Jessica Parker.
