Drama erupted again on ABC's "The View as resident republican host Elisabeth Hasselbeck breaks down in tears during a heated discussion about a racial slur.
During the show's Thursday episode, the hosts were originally discussing civil rights leader Jesse Jackson's apparent use of the N word referring to Senator Barack Obama. The topic then turned to under what circumstances the word can be used inoffensively.
The former "Survivor" contestant argued that the word shouldn't be used at all times by anyone, as opposed to co-host Sherri Shepherd, who argued that she can use the word at the privacy of her own home as a term of endearment.
But Hasselbeck said that the word "perpetuates stereotypes and hate" and even said that they both live in the same world, which Whoopi Goldberg took issue on.
Goldberg said, "We do live in different worlds. You don't understand."
Barbara Walters even told Hasselbeck at one point, "You're not listening, you're just talking."
The youngest host of the group was then brought to tears asking, "How are we supposed to move forward if we keep using words that bring back that pain."
