There was a time when Eddie Murphy claimed that he was not the father of Melanie Brown's baby. The actor even made the statement on television.
However, while the former Spice Girl and the rest of the world remember that time, Eddie must have forgotten. Because the "Shrek" star insists that he has always acknowledged his responsibility as a father.
This is the same Eddie Murphy who insisted on a DNA test from Mel once the baby, Angel Iris, was born.
Now that it has been scientifically proven that the star did in fact father the child, he is spinning his PR. After being dragged through the mud by Mel and her lawyer, Eddie is rebutting.
A statement was issued by his camp saying, "Eddie Murphy always has and will continue to honour his responsibilities as a father. Mr Murphy and Ms. Brown dated very briefly and never made any plans of any sort."
"He acknowledges paternity of the child Angel, and has paid child support to Ms. Brown as well as covering the expenses of her pregnancy. Mr Murphy views this as a private matter and as such, will not be making any further comments about it."
Mel, who has been meeting with her lawyer on a regular basis, has revealed that the baby was planned.
