Eddie Murphy's new engagement celebrations have been interrupted with news that Melanie Brown is taking him to court.
The mother of his sixth child, Angel Iris Murphy Brown, has filed a paternity suit in Los Angeles over Eddie's reluctance to acknowledge that he is the biological father of the baby.
DNA tests recently proved that the "Shrek" star did father the baby with Mel, a former Spice Girl. Now, the British star wants Eddie to acknowledge his responsibility.
Mel told a L.A. press conference that her daughter will, "Always know that she was planned and wanted by both of us, but I want her to know that she has two parents who desire to be responsible for her during her life and who love her so much that they want to be a part of it."
Melanie and Eddie dated after his divorce from wife Nicole Mitchell Murphy. As a couple, they dodged marriage and pregnancy rumors. Soon after the singer announced she was expecting, Eddie claimed that he was not the father during an interview in Germany.
