| Britain's Queen Elizabeth is to open a bar at Balmoral Castle. The 83-year-old royal reportedly believes building a drinking establishment at Piper's Hall, which is just 50 yards from her Scottish residence, will be a good way to help her staff relax when they have finished work. A source told Britain's News of the World: "Piper's Hall is a great setting, right next to the river. I guess you could say it'll be one of the most exclusive bars in Britain." | |
| Britain's Prince Philip has been left disappointed after one of his favorite events was canceled due to bad weather - nine months before it was set to take place. The annual Lowther Horse Driving Trials and Country Fair - of which the Duke of Edinburgh is patron - takes place in Cumbria, England, in August, but next year's event has been called off due to concerns the ground has been too badly effected by recent weather to recover in time. | |
| Britain's Queen Elizabeth was featured in a poll of inspirational British women. The monarch finished third in the survey of the top 10 positive role models for women, which was conducted by British bingo chain Mecca Bingo. The 82-year-old royal was beaten to the top spot by Girls Aloud star and "The X Factor" judge Cheryl Cole. Last year, the 25-year-old singer topped the poll of the worst example set to British women. | | | | | | | |
