Rehab can have a different effect on different patients.
For Lindsay Lohan, it means getting right back on the partying horse. For Britney Spears, rehab has so far proven successful. But for the original wild child rehab patient, Courtney Love, substance abuse treatment has lead to a staggering weight loss.
The grunge queen and rock star has recently debuted a completely new teenage-like body, bikini ready for summer.
Since Love's dramatic transformation, many have wondered how she managed to drop over 40 pounds in such a small amount of time. In true Hollywood fashion, Love has put it down to diet and exercise. However, new reports are emerging that the "Malibu" singer had a little extra help from the knife to achieve her tight stomach, toned thighs and perky breasts.
After she was pictured strolling down a Hawaiian beach, Love addressed the image transformation on her website. Now looking more like Nicole Richie than Sharon Osbourne, Love told her fans, "I'm pretty happy and really all I care about is that my self esteem is limitless and intact, and that nothing and no situation effects my self-esteem in anyway, and creates negativity chaos or loss."
Her rep has continued by saying that a healthy diet, possibly of just water, and an infinite amount of yoga sun salutations have contributed to the slim down.
Love's publicist told the New York Post newspaper, denying surgery rumors, "Not true. She says she never got surgery."
However, "never" is not exactly true. Love herself has admitted that she has recently slimmed down her nose to match her torso. She wrote on her site, "I just didn't like that old nose job. I went too far and I fixed it and made it natural again."
Her lips and breasts have also changed sizes over the years, going from big to small to big again.
A source confirmed to the New York Post's Page Six that the surgery rumors are true and that the rocker isn't keeping it a secret in her inner circle.
The insider said, "She's telling people she got the gastric band surgery. She even said she had to sleep with a towel by her because the surgery makes her (vomit) all the time and is worried she won't be able to make out with anyone because of her breath."
Despite the controversy surrounding the new look, Love's life has definitely turned around. Once stripped of custody of her 14-year-old daughter, Frances Bean, and battling substance abuse addictions, Love is now concentrating on her career. She is rumored to be returning to acting via the London stage.
