The obstetrician who delivered Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's babies Saturday night says Pitt helped out with the delivery.
"He was my assistant," joked Dr. Michel Sussmann, adding that Pitt actually cut the twins' umbilical cords.
Sussman described Pitt as "perfectly calm, totally determined, very pleased to be at the birth of his children, very moved and very emotional," during the delivery.
Sussman added that there were "absolutely no problems."
"It was an epidural, so [Angelina] was awake and speaking and laughing. They were happy."
Asked when Jolie would be able to leave the French hospital, Sussman replied, "I don't know. She will stay for a few days. You know, in Europe it isn't like in the United States, where the patients go home after three days. They will stay a bit longer until everything is okay."
As far as the babies - a boy, Knox Leon, and girl, Vivienne Marcheline - go, Sussman said, "The babies are fine. The babies are with the mother and father and they are fine."
